Bay Area Recovery & Reinvestment (BARR) was founded by Earl Chan and his team of experienced real estate professionals dedicated to extracting maximum value from the 2009 real estate crisis. BARR is in the business of acquiring, rehabilitating and stabilizing distressed single-family homes.

BARR’s unique relationship with Bank Asset Managers and REO specialist coupled with the effectiveness of their acquisitions team allow BARR the ability to acquire distressed bank owned properties for substantially below market value, in some instances less than 30% of their ’06 values and less than 50% of their current replacement cost.

BARR acquires these properties with 100% equity and no leverage. Upon stabilization, we position these properties to generate an annual 15-20% gross income. Because these properties carry no debt, member investors can be reassured that their investment dollars are secured by 100% equity in these assets.

BARR affords passive Member Investors the opportunity to participate in their risk-adjusted real estate investments via investment into a first position promissory note secured by a deed of trust on these properties. In pursuing this opportunistic investment approach, BARR actively manages and executes all aspects of a property’s business-cycle, acquisition financing, rehabilitation, property operations/management and finally disposition.

These properties are located within a 25-mile radius of downtown San Francisco in cities with a tax base that has remained strong. Acquired for far less than 50% of the State’s current median home price, these properties can appreciate three fold and still qualify for affordable housing guidelines and adhere to the current conforming loan threshold.

We take a conservative approach, choosing each investment property carefully and seeing it through each step of the investment cycle.
